G3’s New Auction Centre Drives Record Results in Opening Week

G3 Vehicle Auctions opened their new state-of-the-art facility on the 4th January 2021 with aplomb, despite the national lockdown alert issued the night before the launch sale.

The remarketing specialists have now completed the construction and migrated into what is the UK’s largest purpose-built independent auction and refurbishment development for over 20 years.

G3 undertook a significant marketing campaign to invite buyers to express their interest in attending the physical launch sale events which had over 1,5000 individual applications submitted. A limited guestlist for the first sale event was issued, but the national lockdown instruction led to a last-minute switch to an online-only sale, streamed live from their new auction facility.

All opening sale events were delivered as online-only auctions, with over 1,000 vehicles sold in the first 4 sales through the new centre.

With big new vendors added to the roster for the launch week including Zenith, Hitachi Capital, Liquid Fleet, Tesla, and Blue Motor Finance, alongside established partners like Motability Operations, Marshall Leasing and AvailableCar, the multi-lane auction centre will see G3 offering more vehicles than ever.

With the capacity for over 50,000 vehicles a year, G3 have invested over £12m in a facility which will support the requirements of both physical and online remarketing solutions long into the future.

The new 14-acre site features stadium-standard LED screens across the site, linked to a newly launched multi-lane bidding platform to create a unique and interactive auction experience for both buyers and vendors alike.

Positioned in the A1, M1, M62 triangle, the strategic location in the geographical centre of the country enables G3 to provide national coverage to support their growing roster of vendors and is underpinned by an unrivalled network of 35 drop-off hubs positioned across the UK.

Amanda Holtby, Co-owner and director said; “It was so close, yet so far! Whilst we could not wait to open and welcome visitors to a physical launch sale to take a glimpse of what we have been working on throughout 2020.  We had to react quickly to turn our attentions to online-only sales once again.  Thankfully when we planned the site, we also built in the latest AI and drive-through inspection scanners, alongside a brand-new online bidding platform which will seamlessly blend multi-lane and multi-vendor sales with up to 700 vehicles on offer every single day.

We are proud the launch sales were still a success in these challenging times for everyone.  Our loyal buyers and a whole host of new trade accounts joined us for the live streams to see the great range of vendors we have on offer at our new centre.

In a time when many of our auction rivals are vocal in their futures laying solely with online-only sales, we have bucked the trend and invested heavily in a physical auction centre that will rival anything else on offer in the UK.  We’ve built a reputation for our engaging and popular auction events, so when it’s safe to do so we will be inviting buyers new and old to visit the site to experience our huge undercover viewing hall and the exciting new rostrum lanes for themselves.”
